The vision of Cardio X is to provide premium fitness based on real highly scientific evidence (via the exercise testing, needs analysis, general lifestyle assessment) creating thus an unprecedented high quality fitness service, the so called “Premium Fitness”.

Nowadays most fitness branches and individual trainers promote and sell “Fitness”. However, which are the components of fitness and have you ever been given “real fitness”. The answer for most of you might be “never”. Let’s see why. Fitness consists of ten components 1) body composition, muscular 2) strength, 3) endurance, 4) power, 5) speed/quickness, 6) agility, 7) flexibility, 8) balance and coordination, 9) cardiovascular endurance and 10) motor skill. When was the last time that you were assessed in these components and you got prescribed an exercise programme based on your own fitness limits (including strengths and weaknesses), as well as in relation to your own personal needs?

Cardio X objective is to provide a full initial fitness assessment for all ten components of fitness via established exercise assessments. The exercise assessments and the related-scientific field (called exercise physiology) aim to assess an individual’s fitness and health, and parallel to provide the appropriate scientific data that will be used to prescribe exercise for the improvement of fitness and/or health status.

Who we are?

Dr Alexandros Mitropoulos (BSc, MSc, PhD in Sports Science and Clinical Exercise Physiology) holds a 12-year working experience as a fitness trainer and in parallel is actively working as a researcher in Clinical Exercise Physiology at Sheffield Hallam University and he is parallel the Founder of CardioX. His expertise and interests is to improve the lifestyle and quality of life in general and clinical populations including older adults and amateur athletes. This can be achieved by knowing each individuals health status, medical history and pathologies and perform targeted assessments and exercise prescription for these people. For example, Alexandros has led a research study which aimed to explore whether upper limb high intensity interval training (HIIT) would benefit people with systemic sclerosis experiencing Raynaud’s phenomenon. These people experience restricted blood flow in the fingers and thus the aim of the exercise protocol was to improve the blood flow and minimise the pain and discomfort that these people feel. The results showed that this type of exercise (e.g., arm cranking) and protocol (e.g., HIIT) improved the blood flow in the fingers and patient’s quality of life. Therefore, it is important to understand the different pathologies or health status (even for healthy individuals) before proceeding in assessing, and prescribing individualised exercise. Our advanced scientific knowledge and approach is what separate us from other fitness and health brands.
